drupal + CleanURL + Apache + AJAX + AutoComplete = 404

One of the things I really like about drupal is that it has built in the capacity to (manually) classify contents on the fly.

Besides being able to set up nested or hierarchical categories, it has a built in autocomplete feature that looks for every term you've ever used in that particular category, evaluates what you have typed so far, and generates a custom drop down list with 'official' terms. And, oh, yeah. You can ignore all its hard work and just keep on typing to add new terms if you really want to.

Comparatively, plain old drop down lists, usually 'closed lists' that you are forced to chose from, seem pretty dumb and unwieldy. There is a lot of clicking, scrolling and such involved. If the drop down list is huge, your'e in for a tendon-popping good time.

Drupals nice little feature has a pulsing rotating circle that tells you its working hard for you, and when its done , it provides a customized list of options that is refined as you type (past the first letter, which is far as plain-old drop-down's go).

Only, none of this was working for me.

I liked drupal not because it is a geekier option than some of its more slick, push-button and and its done, competitor CMS platforms, but despite this fact. But only because it gave me impressive control and dependable stability.

However, drupal was losing its sheen as, over the past few hours I have been skulking through forums and bugplatforms looking for an answer that doesn't involve upgrading.

I finally found one here. As difficult as they may be to corral, thank God for Geeks. Especially ones that share their code!
